Water for Life, not for Death: The Struggle of People Affected by Dams
This webinar focussed on the resistance of people and communities affected by dams. Flavia Braga Vieira discussed the struggle in Brazil that confronted forms of water grabbing by state and corporate actors – who all too often work together to dispossess communities – for over 30 years. Cailtlin Schroering focussed on the IV International Movement of People Affected by Dams, Socio-environmental crimes, and Climate Change, held adjacent to COP30 in Belem, Brazil, November 2025. This gathering provided an alternative space to confront the false solutions of “green capitalism” and water financialization, and formally announced the creation of a global movement.ebinar focussed on the resistance of people and communities affected by dams.
